Mathias Strömberg (b. 1972, Stockholm) uses painting, film, music and writing to examine and question the policies, machines and quiet myths that shaped – and then broke – the Swedish welfare state. He studied art at Goldsmiths College, University of London, in 1992–93, and graduated with a BA in graphic design from Central Saint Martins in 1996. He has since divided his time between work as an independent artist, music creator, essayist, lecturer, filmmaker and creative gun-for-hire.
